First thing you need to know is what you need to prepare and what are the ingredients. You don’t need to be worried; the ingredients are not hard to find everywhere, ssor you might already have in your kitchen.

Here is the list of ingredients for Nasi Goreng:

  • Chili
  • Tamarind paste
  • Tomato paste
  • Brown sugar
  • Shrimp paste
  • Garlic
  • Fish Sauce
  • Salt
  • Soy sauce
  • Eggs
  • Oil or margarine
  • Shallots
  • Spring onions
  • Cooked rice
  • Cornflower

How to cook Nasi Goreng

Fry the sliced shallots on a hot oil on a pan until crisp.

Pour oil to a pan, wait until it heats and put garlic, chilli, and shrimp paste on it. Then add fish sauce, brown sugar, tamarind paste, tomato puree and soy sauce.

Stir the pan and wait until it changes colour. Then add cooked rice. Continue to stir the pan.

Move the rice so there is a small space in the pan. Add egg into it and scramble it. Then mix it with the rice.

Add just enough salt to the rice with al in it. Also, add spring onions and crispy onions in. Mix it together.

Nasi Goreng is cooked, then move the rice to a plate. Nasi Goreng is ready to be served

Once the Nasi Goreng is finished, you can add some toppings to it. Usually, toppings are kerupuk which is Indonesian crackers.
