These Romanian brownies are not like anything you’ve tasted before! Surely, wherever you are, you have eaten a brownie before, but this recipe is surely going to give you a new experience. These brownies are not fudgy like you might be used to from the iconic American recipes. They are spongy (but not dry) and with just the right amount of fudge to satisfy your brownie needs.

Romanian Brownies

6 eggs
200g butter
300g sugar
250ml milk
300g flour
1 sachet of baking powder
1 tablespoon Rum extract
3 tablespoons cocoa
100 g nuts (optional)
100g melted chocolate (optional, if you want a glaze)
50g melted butter(optional, if you want a glaze)
Directions
Put the milk, butter or margarine, sugar and cocoa in a saucepan, bring to a boil, then put the mixture to cool.
Over the beaten egg whites, add the yolks one by one, the baking powder mixed with flour, rum essence, the above cooled composition and the chopped walnuts.
Pour into a 20 x 30 cm tray lined with baking paper and bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, over medium heat.
Spread the icing over the baked cake (steamed chocolate with butter).
