  • The cabbage is salted in cold water depending on how salty it is. It can be put from evening to morning or just an hour.

  • Pass the meat and onion through the mincer, then mix with the rice, salt, pepper and half the amount of carrots passed through the grater.

  • Peel each cabbage leaf and cut it if it is too large. Put the stuffing like a walnut and roll by placing the sarmales in the pan on a layer of chopped cabbage and alternately with the smoked pork breast.

  • Put in the pan the remaining carrots, also passed through a grater, place the thyme, peppercorns and bay leaves. Pour cabbage juice, broth and enough water to cover them. Boil covered for about 3 hours.
